About the St. Matthew's Fathers' Club (Our Chartered Organization)

The Fathers’ Club is a fellowship of men within a Catholic community of faith dedicated to spreading God’s word through service to our parish. We raise funds to support the parish, provide social activities, and support the youth of our community.

The primary purpose of the Fathers’ Club is to raise funds on behalf of the parish and to provide social activities to bring our parish family together. We do this by providing a variety of activities and fundraising events for our parish community to participate in such as…

Super 50/50 – This raffle is conducted annually and raises $5,000 to $7,000 each year.

Comedy Night – This is one of our most popular events, parishioners have begun to think of these semi-annual evenings of fun as a tradition at St. Matthew.

Theatre Trips – Monthly trips to the plays in New York both on and off Broadway provide a wonderful day of entertainment and fun.

Halloween Party – Provided to the youth and families of our parish as a way to display costumes and have a wonderful time with friends. Free, but donations gratefully accepted.

Atlantic City Trips – Twice a year trips to visit the tables, slots or just walk on the boardwalk. Parish Support

In addition to the major events we support, the Fathers’ Club is well-known for our willingness to support special projects for the parish and to assist other parish organizations in their activities. These include:

• Coordinating and hosting parish picnics
• Managing the dunk tank at the annual Saint Matthew Carnival
• Providing First Communion breakfasts
• Assisting the HSA with the takedown of tables and chairs for their annual Tricky Tray which    benefits Saint Matthew School
• Partnering with Music Ministry to host the Irish Night Dinner
• Arranging the cafeteria for blood drives and restoring it when the drive is complete
• Painting US Map in parking lot for Saint Matthew School
• Ice cream for students of Saint Matthew School during Catholic Schools week

What’s Involved?

Saint Matthew’s Fathers’ Club offers the men of the parish an opportunity to meet and discuss ways to support our parish community.

As a member we ask that you attend the monthly meetings when you can and provide input on projects and activities that would be of value to the Saint Matthew community. There are a few labor intensive events, such as Comedy Night and the Tricky Tray clean-up assistance when all members are asked to participate in order to make the event run smoothly. As they say: “Many hands make light work.”

The Fathers’ Club is often asked to provide labor and funds for projects. These might involve moving classroom furniture, power washing a building, replacing a fence, maintaining the parish tractor, or replacing the Alarm System. The more members we have, the more we can do for the parish.

Please consider joining our group.
